Meet Wendy

I’m a music and arts fanatic proudly born and raised in Liverpool. I am fascinated by the creative process and have supported and guided creatives’ careers for over twenty years.

I began my career at Gilles’ Peterson’s seminal Talkin’ Loud label, and went on to work with some of the biggest artists and brands in the entertainment world. As marketing manager at BMG and Universal (Polydor/Interscope), I delivered marketing and release campaigns for Alicia Keys, Lana Del Rey, Pharrell / N.E.R.D, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, The Black Eyed Peas, Q-Tip, Beck, 50 Cent, Angie Stone and many more. I also collaborated with brands and artists on strategic commercial campaigns. As music consultant for Armani, I sourced artists for promotional partnerships and curated events at flagship Armani stores in London and Manchester.

As Partner at arts and culture partnership Counterculture I am currently leading a research project for UK Music’s Diversity Task Force, assessing the economic and cultural value of Black British music over the last twenty five years. This groundbreaking report will be the first of its kind, amplifying the voices of the Black British music community and building an action plan for a more inclusive and equitable music industry.

Also with Counterculture I have led on stakeholder consultation for the Booker Prizes,  cultural strategies for Liverpool, Salford, Bolton, Essex, Birkenhead and Sefton, a festival and events strategy for Rochdale, a night time economy review for Thanet, and the music sector research for Tees Valley Combined Authority that led to Generator and Tees Music Alliance’s Sonic Futures project.

Alongside Keith Mullin of LIPA / The Farm, I have promoted a series of live shows with Peter Hook & the Light, Sugarhill Gang & the Furious 5, Red Rum Club, Sub Blue, The Farm, Natalie McCool, Space, The Real People, The Coral, John O’Connell / Simply Dylan and others.

As Business Development Manager at Rare Studio School of Performing Arts, I collaborated with Jacqui Shi (Rambert), Eugene Skeef (Umoya Creations / Guildhall School of Music and Drama) and the Anthony Walker Foundation on ‘Rise’, a combined music, dance and spoken word production which was launched at Culture Liverpool’s Liverpool Against Racism Festival in April, 2022.

I am also a Psychotherapist in Training, in my third year of a four year Advanced Clinical Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy (Masters, Level 7). I am mentored by BAATN – The Black, African and Asian Therapy Network – and I sit on an Inclusion and Diversity Group for MITC – Music Industry Therapists Collective. I also sit on the Board for Liverpool Sound City.
